The No Man's Fort hotel is one of the alternative hotel choices in the UK, as you get to sleep on the hotel’s fortress island, surrounded by the historic forts dating back more than 150 years. Private boats bring guests across the canal to the island hotel, and the monumental historical site impresses with its almost grim, defensive exterior, but wows with modernized and elegant inner furnishing and design.
Delve into this building’s rich history and join a tour through the fort where you learn more about its previous uses, transformation into a hotel, and more. A hot tub is also on the hotel premises where you can relax your tense muscles after roaming through the building. To get a better idea of the delicious hotel food, you can participate in wine and cheese tastings, as well as cocktail-making lessons, or Lazer Battle. Night entertainment comes in abundance at the Cabaret Bar, or you play a round of billiards with your friends before hanging out at the fire pit.
Traditional British afternoon tea is served at the No Man's Fort hotel on select Saturdays from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm. It is normally consumed in the Ward Room that amazes with a bright and lofty design, equipped with cushy sofas and armchairs. Freshly brewed tea and coffee are served among cheddar cheese and honey roast ham sandwiches, to name some. A rich assortment of scones and pies is also on the afternoon tea menu, including plain scones, sultana scones, lemon tarts, apple pies, clotted cream, and jam.
The transport boats for hotel guests depart from the Commercial Pontoon at Gunwharf Point and take approximately 30-45m to the hotel. Check-in for the boat is sharp at 11:30 am, so be punctual. Bear in mind that the boat to your hotel destination stops at Spitbank Fort first to let visitors exit or embark, and you may have to wait a few minutes there. Private transfer can be organized as well if you prefer; simply contact the hotel to inquire about the options.
History, spa relaxation, retail, and fun activities blend together with the No Man's Fort hotel packages that come with and without a night at the fortress. The Retail, Relax and Rejuvenate Package features discounts for select shops and eateries at Gunwharf Point before boarding the boat for a spa treatment, historic tour, and access to the sauna, hot tub, and hot house. The Overnight Retreat package indulges with a stay and spa experience, as well as the tour and breakfast.
To take your fort experience even further, the Lighthouse Suite is the ultimate nautical and luxurious space to stay. The self-contained, two-bedroom suite offers incredible views over the water and features a freestanding bathtub. The private circular lounge gives you almost 360° views and plush leather furniture to relax on.
Due to safety reasons, children under 12 years cannot travel on the boats to the island. Children from 12-17 years old can spend the day at the island and enjoy afternoon tea or the gourmet dinner, but you have to be over 18 to stay overnight.
