I think that the website was misleading. There are 2 hotels on the grounds, the Manor House and the stables (Hunters Yard). The Manor House appears as a 5 star hotel, where ad the stables (Hunters Yard) is more like a 4 star. We would have much rather pay the extra €100 approx to have gotten our 5 star experience In our room the heating/ AC wasn't working so they ended up giving us a portable heater. The pool was quite cold and the staff didn't ensure that all guests were wearing swim hats. One of the drinking glasses in our room had a crack in the rim. Finally, we checked in at 10:30am. We were asked for our phone numbers as they would ring us when a room like ours was available. We received no phone call and at 3:30pm went back to the reception to find our room was available. Our complaints were voiced at check out. Would I go back again? Not to Hunters Lodge. We travelled 3 and a half hours to get to it. I however would like to stay in the Manor House where the Michelan star restaurant is actually based.
Pros:Superb Golf, free bicycles to explore the estate area, quiet and luxurious.
Cons:We could have used a better introduction to the apartment and especially the plumbing. Taking a shower was not simple, and we gave up on the bath.
