Small cars are nice to rent in Houston. If I had used a family vehicle for it to Dallas I would have been well over 400 dollars in gas. Using the little Hyundai I only spent 50 bucks in gas and returned it with a full tank. The only thing that caught me off guard was the $500 deposit required. Definitely go with Alamo! Wonderful experience across-the-board and no lines. The line at Budget was probably 1.5-2 hours long and I didn’t have to wait at all with Alamo. You also get to literally walk out and pick whatever car you want based on the group that you paid for so it’s really nice to have a say in what car you drive!

Get there really early. Preregister. Houston traffic sucks, especially at rush hour, but it's not like DC or LA or NY traffic. Use your Navigator, you'll be fine. When returning the car, don't get gas on the road leading into the airport...it's literally $1 more per gallon than the gas on the other side of the street--heading out of the airport. Fill up before you get there, or spend an extra 10 minutes to U-turn to get gas on the other side of the road. We drive faster than folks in most big cities. Please stay out of the fast lanes if you're getting passed on the right. And if you're really slow, please stay off the freeway altogether. Slow drivers cause a lot more accidents than fast drivers. We have these nifty things called "access roads" that parallel the freeways. They may be disconcerting, at first, but they're great for slow drivers. Even though we drive faster, there are plenty of law enforcement agencies looking to make money on traffic offenses. Drive with the flow of traffic to minimize your risks of being the one that gets pulled over. Again, Navigator may be your friend.

The van had a dirty windshield and we had to ask for it to be cleaned when we picked it up. More importantly we were told to bring it back with a full tank but we were given a van with a half tank and had to ask them to fill the tank. Their preparation of the van needs improvement.

What I really liked was the fact that I got to literally just go pick a car on my own, not be told which car I’m getting. The BMW was extremely comfortable, but we had a heck of a problem trying to figure out which button to push for various things. The people at the checkout counter, the key distribution and the return were simply a lot of fun. All of them were smiling and laughing when appropriate. That is a good operation! We were very impressed.

I was quoted a price upon reservation. When I arrived to pick up the car I was told the car did not have GPS which I assumed it would have and absolutely needed. The car with GPS cost me more than TWICE as much as the initial quoted price and it was not a category update. I have consistently rented with Sixt for years in Paris, France. You can look it up. GPS was never an issue. To say the least I am extremely disappointed at what I consider as misrepresentation, and will steer away from Sixt in the future.

Houston was Awesome! The drop off point in Galveston had the incorrect hours listed on the building. The door said they would be closed but they were actually open with 20 or 30 people there!!!

Compact SUV

The drop off location on the contract was not the right place, and when I called customer service to fix the problem, they said that the Houston branch imputed my wrong birthday, so they couldn’t modify my reservation for the correct drop off location. I ended up taking it to Galveston (my original drop off) and they kindly took the rental in, and even offered me a ride to the cruise terminal. I am impressed, and great full for the Galveston branch.

Supplier choice

I chose a supplier choice vehicle for a 300 mile one way . When I got there they advised me my ONLY choice would be an electric vehicle . I let them k ow that I’m not comfortable with an electric vehicle nor do I have time to recharge it or the know how . They offered me the cheapest car in America for an upgrade fee.

When booking with Kayak.. I got a good rate at 400. avg.. When I arrived to Budget.. It doubled the amount. SO no. I would not be using Kayak for future car rentals. Also, budget doesn't use 3rd party insurance. It's either yours or theirs (Budget)

I completed my pre check in as it said “avoid the line” and just pick up your car. I already pre paid for the car and when I got there, I showed them my Apple Card via my cell phone as I do not have a “physical” card. They would not accept me not having a physical card even tho it was pre paid and my card was charged—— and I pre checked in! Quick process. Showed up they had my reservation they were ready to go took me less than 5 minutes to get my vehicle. Upon returning, staff saw I had oversized item and instead of making me transfer to a shuttle they drove me to the airport in my vehicle. Very much appreciated!

Had to wait two hours for an available car at pickup, with no place to sit at pickup point. Explanation for this was that a gold member had demanded a car, and they always receive priority. There were 20 people waiting with us. One man said he had been there three hours. Also, felt ripped off on the gas-tank charge. We were given the option to either fill the tank or be charged an extra $43 at drop off. We filled the tank, only to find out that thrifty charges you $36 regardless. So, we spent $20 to fill the tank for a savings of $7 on the total bill. Slimy.

The low price is a trap, they will add them on when you check in. They were friendly when you enter the room, but have you wait there forever, while I was waiting, I saw people complaining about the adding on price, I saw people complaining why no car for them yet, I saw people had trouble returning the car, I had to google what is Easirent, all their reviews very poor, I decided to give up my money I've already paid (no refund 2 hours before checking in), before they rip off, they even had no people to help me while I was waiting there for 40 minutes.

I rent a lot of cars. Usually from National/Enterprise but occasionally others. Including smaller local companies. Decided to give this one a try. One and done. It took forever to get the rental in the first place. Longest wait I've ever experienced as the desk personnel attempted to sell two renters ahead of me a variety of options they didn't want or need. Tried with me too. Nearly two hours to finish and get a rental. Then it was an " upgrade " from a compact SUV that I reserved to a compact sedan. The windshield was filthy. The car was obviously a refurbished salvage vehicle. They attempted to prevent me from adding " photos taken " to the review of the car. This is a cheap lousy operation that borders on being described as fraud. Never again.

Customer service was non existent. The atmosphere was gloomy and depressing. No smiling, no eye contact, and the representative was exceedingly unhelpful. I'd swear we were being punked by the way they were interacting with customers. One woman became so upset she was hurling expletives. The staff seemed to have gone out of their ways to make the experience as unpleasant, and tedious as possible. I will NEVER use your service again EVER. In fact, I would gladly pay more to avoid such a dreadful interaction. Consider reevaluating your (male) staff. Lazy and unhelpful sums it up in a nutshell.

Pros:

Nothing. We didn’t end up renting from this place. They only had one van. The tires were worn out and when confronted by this fact, they yelled at us.

The paperwork portion of the rental was exceptionally fast. The shuttle took a little longer than I expected. The pickup agent was great. The shuttle driver gave great recommendations regarding places to eat. The drop off was very convenient near the airport.

I arrived on time with confirmation number. Rented way in advance and was told they did not have the car I reserved! I needed a 7 passenger van. The kicker was that the women manning the desk had no concern whatsoever and just kept repeating they only had a 5 passenger vehicle and they could not help that someone had not returned the vehicle I rented. Sorry but yea, it could be helped. I will never use kayak again as it is simply an automated system of renting with no regard concerning the customer. Ace rentals is pathetic.

I knew something was amiss when we came out to the car rental pickup and there were no ACE shuttles. I finally got through to the office and they indicated that a shuttle was there when we said our flight came in, and had since left. So we had to wait 15 minutes for another shuttle. The pick-up was in a strip shopping area, and looked like a consignment store. All kinds of signs screaming that the unlimited mileage wouldnt apply if you went over the border out of TX, and that you couldn't bring guns or drugs into the cars. The office was a tiny desk and there were all sorts of old toys around the office. So weird. The car we received had just been returned from a fender-bender, and had all sorts of dents and marks on it. There were holes in the upholstery. There were over 109k miles on the car- and the registration was over 6 months out of date. It's kind of laughable really- we asked for another car and they said none of the cars that were supposed to come back actually did. Over the border maybe???? The staff were nice and did the best they could, but I would never rent from them again.

I did not even get to use your service.. I was not even notified that I had to call to have someone pick me up me up. When I finally called they couldn't find my reservation even though I had a reservation. I was stuck at the airport. This is a lousy service. You should send a detailed message to your clients telling them exactly what they need to do.. I will never use your service again .

Wait time for pick up at the airport was extremely long. Tha rental place had only one man rin pick up and drop off. The rental place is being run from an hotel lobby which looks awkward to me. I had 2 flat tires which made it impossible to move, on calling the rental, they told me to call my insurance company because towing assistance wasn't part of the contract, so, incase you rent from York Car Rental any problem you encounter during the duration of your rental is entirely yours. The usual practice that the rental place will send you another vehicle as replacement is out of it at York. I had to spend additional $320 out of pocket to tow and replace the tires🙁🙁🙁. Even with this experience, I will give kudos to the Driver, who is an amazing guy 👍🤝.

Terrible they close at 6 this was not made clear to use when booking. Our plain was delayed 30 minutes so when we called at 530 they would not help us at all and they would not refund any amounts. If you read there term and conditions you can be late up to two hours.

They did not let us rent a car even though we had confirmation through kayak. They only rent to travelers who are flying into IAH. We are waiting for the refund. We were very disappointed and ended up having to go to another rental agency and delayed our trip.

Little far from the airport. When going through a 3rd party instructions should be provided. I had to google the company and figure it out after I already head to the rent a car center and had to head back. They wouldn’t send a pickup until I texted them my id and insurance. Then when I was told about the tolls I opted out when I returned the car he charged me for the daily pass even tho the other person said I didn’t have to. The car it’s self was great the business was not professional

Upon arrival we followed instructions and attempted to contact Nextcar. Nextcar never responded to any of our calls or emails, we eventually had to secure another rental at the last moment for 3 times the cost. Do not ever use Nextcar!
