Shopping in Denver

The Cherry Creek Mall is Denver’s main traditional mall with big retailers – Nordstrom’s and Macy’s – anchoring each end of the building and familiar shops in between, such as Tiffany & Co., H & M, Sephora, Banana Republic, Louis Vuitton, North Face, Lululemon, Urban Outfitters, Athleta, and more. There are also restaurants so you can maintain your stamina between stores: Milano’s Pizza, Kona Grill, and Flower Child with vegan and vegetarian menus.

Garbarini is a women’s clothing and shoe store with a personal touch. Each salesperson is a stylist who will help you put together your best look from brands like Nicole Miller, DVF, Helmut Lang, and so many others.

Using remnants of tossed-out items, Revampt creates new home décor with everything from license plates to wine barrels. Shoppers will find artwork with a Colorado theme, rugs, pillows, coasters, and jewelry.

Inspyre is a women’s clothing and accessory boutique that aims to keep prices under $100 for everything they sell – denim, dresses, tops, hats, and other accessories. Brands sold at Inspyre include Vervet, Flying Monkey, Brixton, and more. It’s the perfect stop for an affordable outfit for a date night or a gift.

In a historic building in the heart of the LoDo neighborhood, shoppers will find a store so iconic that the block it’s on was posthumously renamed for the store’s founder, Papa Jack Weil. Today, Rockmount Ranch Wear is run by the founder’s grandson, Steve Weil, and it is part living history museum, part store. The birthplace of the snap-front Western shirt, you’ll find a version here for men, women, or kids in plain to fancy. There are also t-shirts with the store’s logo, cowboy hats, bolo ties, and other souvenirs.

The I Heart Denver store is in the Denver Pavilions, an outdoor mall along the 16th Street Mall in downtown Denver. The concept of this store is different from a typical retail setup and more like an art gallery, with a percentage of each sale going back to the creators of the goods. T-shirts with “Coloradical” or an image of the state flag are popular here, you’ll also find locally-made spices, Colorado honey, socks, tea, and body care products, and it’s a treasure hunt to find all that is made here.

The Fashion Truck is a boutique on wheels, with a former bus outfitted as a shop filled with home goods, apparel, and accessories, some of which are vintage and others are locally made t-shirts and jewelry. The truck can be found around town at farmers’ markets or near other shopping areas.

If you’re looking for local designers or international designers who aren’t household names in women’s apparel, stop in at Recital in the RiNo neighborhood. The emphasis here is on designers, not brands. Shoppers might recognize Rachel Comey or Sandy Liang. There is a home goods shop next door called Recital, Still.

Topo Designs specializes in well-made colorful bags for your next outdoor adventure. Their bags span from wallet-size pouches to suitcases with wheels. In addition, they have a line of apparel for men and women. The company is committed to sustainable manufacturing and they feature many Made in Colorado products. This is their flagship location, and they have shops in the airport, too.

Rocky Mountain Single Malt is 100% made in Colorado and has a cult-like following for this and the other Stranahan’s whiskeys. Every year Stranahan’s releases their limited-edition Snowflake, a winter whiskey and there is a long line waiting for a chance to buy a bottle.

The designer of the “Coloradical” t-shirts started out selling at the I Heart Denver shop and then opened up their own store with an even bigger variety of designs and styles for all ages. Images screen printed on these tees are often of the state flag, the mountains, and wild animals.

The cowboy style in Colorado isn’t quite as flashy as you might see in Texas with rhinestones and glitter, but you can find some original designs that are specific to this place.

Made in Boulder, Liberty Puzzles are made from wood and have “whimsical” pieces incorporated into the design that make them unique. For example, a mountain scene might have a handful of pieces related to that theme such as a piece shaped like an elk or a tree. Custom puzzles are available and factory tours are offered.

Despite all of the success of craft breweries, Coors is still the most famous name in Colorado beer. You can take a brewery tour and stop in their gift shop for a hat or t-shirt with their logo (they cannot ship you beer though).

The Big Blue Bear is available in miniature and its likeness is also found on apparel in gift shops. Another favorite sculpture, the blue stallion on display outside of Denver International Airport and nicknamed “Blucifer,” is found in miniature on key chains or its image is on t-shirts and hats.
